How to upgrade to the Digital Secure Key
- Log on to your mobile banking app. Then select ‘More’, ‘Security settings’, and ‘Switch Digital Secure Key’.
- Select ‘Activate now’.
- To activate your Secure Key on this device, we need to send you an activation code.

Can I log into my HSBC account without secure key?
If you don’t have access to your Secure Key, go to our online banking log on page, enter your username and select ‘I’ve forgotten all my log on details or I don’t have my Secure Key’.
How do I unlock my HSBC security device?
Go to the online banking log on page, locate the security code field and then select the ‘forgot PIN’ link. From there, enter the answers to your security questions, enter the unlock code from your device and follow the onscreen instructions to create a new PIN.
How long does the HSBC Secure Key lock for?
The Secure Key is now temporarily locked and you will be unable to use it for approximately 1 hour. This message will remain on the screen of the Secure Key until the lock out has expired, then the Key will automatically power off.
